The term “sonido bestial” was first coined in the early 1980s by Spanish music critic Alfredo Piedrafita, who used it to describe the sound of the Spanish heavy metal band Barn Rojo. The term quickly caught on, and is now used to describe a wide range of heavy metal bands, from Metallica to Slayer to Slipknot.
